Hello everyone,
As many of you out there, I'm truely fond of El-Sit (Om Kalthoum), and unintentionally, often times I find myself playing songs of here on the oud.
I know I've posted some songs in other separate threads, but thought it would be better if I compile them all in one thread. So, my appologies for any
repetition. I'll try to post those that were never posted by me before.

Dear OudProff- Your playing is simply wonderful. Your takes on these songs of El-Sit/Oum Kalthoum are lovely to hear (I also enjoy waiting to see
which one of your ouds you'll be playing on in each video!);your playing and interpertation of these gems are inspiring to listen to as well as watch,
and for my money worthy to be released in a CD collection of her music and the great composers behind these songs. Thanks for posting these clips, I'm
sure many of us will find ourselves coming back for a second and third viewing! Are these all your own arrangements? all the best, Matthew
Oud.Proff - 10-4-2007 at 04:06 AM
Dear Matthew,
Thanks a lot for your nice words man. I actually started playing the oud after I heared an oud master (who amazingly disappeared from TV !!) after
playing Om Kalthoum's wonder....."Al-Atlal". Rahat Al-Arwah maqam drives me ecstatic ever since. That song and Serit El-Hobb were my first played
songs on the oud . Om Kalthoum IS the reason I love oud in fact.
I always come to realize that those artists (Riadh Sunbati, M. Abdil Wahab, Baligh Hamdi....etc.) were more than pure musicians....they were actually
Geniuses. The way they form their musical sentence simply blows me away !
Yes, I play most of those melodies out of memory.
Thanks
O.P.

Thanks very much you guys, SamirCanada, jshead and Benjamin.
As for those videos Benjamin, they are never meant to be educational but rather a way to share some of my material with all great members. About the
name, it's just a nickname came to my mind in 2 seconds, and I got stuck with it ever since
By the way, relevant contributions of any member of the forum are more than welcomed in this thread, as it is really dedicated to the great Om
Kalthoum, in the name of the forum

Aqbala Lail (i.e., The Night has Come.....)
Oud.Proff - 10-15-2007 at 12:23 PM
Here is another Om Kalthoum song, Aqbala Lail. Most of the music in the intro in the original song was played on the keyboard, and here is a trial on
the oud playing the first part of the song.

Oud.Proff - 10-18-2007 at 09:07 AM
Hi again
Just recorded one of my top favorites, Darit El Ayyam (i.e., Days have passed by.....). Composer is Muhammad Abdil Wahab, song first performed back in
1970 (but amazingly still feels very fresh and alive !!!):

Oud.Proff - 11-20-2007 at 12:12 PM
Hello everyone,
Here is another amazing song of Om Kalthoum, Lissabr Hdood. Music is by the great musician (originally an Agricultural Engineer by the way) Mohammad
Mooji, lyrics by Abdel Wahab Mohammad. Song was first posted back in 1964.
I gave it a try and played the intro and the next part on the oud.
Hope you all like it.

Wow O.P.! Just when I think we have heard the best from you up you come with another wonderful piece! This is the most soulful performance, so
sensitive, so much feeling, ( so much reverb! ) I can feel that word coming
again...- Beautiful!
Thanks for this listening pleasure
