Hi everybody,
Just stumbled across the forum in my search for info about Ouds. I am 23, male from Australia and I am a guitarist. I am Egyptian and have a love of
Oud music, especially Farid el Atrache and am on a quest to find an Oud and a teacher.
When I was last in Egypt I bought an Oud in Cairo but upon arrival in Sydney I found that the conditions in the cabin had caused all the mother of
pearl work around the soundhole to cave in (the glue was affected I assume). Furthermore the soundboard had sunk somewhat.
So basically, I am looking for somewhere I can buy a good quality Oud (preferably in Australia but otherwise from a maker that will ship here).
If anyone can help me out Id be very appreciative.
Thanks guys, I hope to see you all around the forums.

also in Australia. he is one friendly and helpful guy. good luck!

Hi Cat
Welcome to the forum! I'm in Perth and HOORAY my new Rapakousios Bashir style oud arrived last week all the way from Athens. It arrived safe and sound
and is quite simply a masterly example of fine craftmanship.

Hey CQ, how's the nu oud? when do we get a sound file of you playing this beautiful instrument?

Hi Sazi
Once I've become accustomed to the nuances of my new oud I shall endeavour to load a little sound clip. Probably in the Hijazkar (my favourite!) maqam
of the month thread.
I have to say the oud is very swish but the case. Wow. It is very impressive as well, not bulky, well built and very practical. Well worth the
investment if you buy a Rapakousios oud!
