So what is it gonna be?

Iam debating whether or not I should get a new 7 series BMW or this oud?
they are in the same price range.

Maybe if it was 88% perfect, but only 87%? That's pushing it....;)

Jason - 11-19-2007 at 08:48 AM

haha I wonder what the listing fee on that was

Peyman - 11-19-2007 at 09:37 AM

At least shipping is cheap...

MatthewW - 11-19-2007 at 09:47 AM

Hey Samir, for a guy with your style and flair there's no question about it: buy the BMW and the oud dude! :))

zalzal - 11-19-2007 at 11:14 AM

You may replace the 4to5 small pieces of mother of pearl, then reach the 100% perfect condition and resell it immediately afterwards for 84 750 usd. With the difference of 9750 usd you may find a secondhand 7 series BMW....cross the border and buy an excelent oud fm Jameel at a reasonable price. And even go to a gig with the car, impress the ladies and sing romantic ballads for them.
No dilemma. You can get all, car, oud and ladies.
Anyway, the oud has a nice "taracea" work on the bowl.

Whoa!

Laith - 11-19-2007 at 11:17 AM

That oud better be able turn into a car and cure cancer at the same time.

jdowning - 11-19-2007 at 01:38 PM

Well - it is only a "wall hanger' after all.
Hey Samir, be careful that you do not fall off that wallet of yours - you could injure yourself!

oudplayer - 11-19-2007 at 02:54 PM

Sazi - 11-19-2007 at 06:43 PM

The cheque's in the mail! ;)

journeyman - 11-19-2007 at 07:03 PM

Yea, you guys laugh, but I have it on good authority that this oud was owned by King Tut himself!

mavrothis - 11-19-2007 at 09:49 PM

What would really be funny is if someone bid $75,000 and then saw the message: "The reserve price has not been met."

adamgood - 11-20-2007 at 05:53 AM

I just checked the member stats, currently there are 3,283 registered members. If we each pitched in $22.845263 to total up to $75,001 (as Mav pointed out, the reserve must be met) we can collectively own this beauty.

The question remains, with that many owners who gets to take it first and for how long? These are only logistics to work out together though I humbly suggest myself, for devising the plan and because I have a nice spot on my wall next to our fireplace.

All in favor?

Adam

mavrothis - 11-20-2007 at 09:37 PM

Interesting Adam, that you mention your fireplace...are you suggesting that's where this oud should end up? ;) A little harsh I think for an 87% perfect oud.

All kidding aside, I will be buying this special oud very shortly - as soon as the exiled Nigerian prince who has contacted me wires his very hefty inheritance to my personal bank account - in return for a small fee and some personal financial information...

Sorry Sammy, maybe next year...(happy birthday) :)

I'm waiting for some prankster to really bid on it so the seller has to go through all that trouble recouping the listing and selling fees from ebay hehe

yeah - that's a tough one ...

for a short time and quite by accident (fortuitous, as it happens) i tipped into four figures in my paypal account recently and was promptly informed that they will not guarantee compensation (should paypal go belly-up) for any mount over $1000.

so, all of you out there who are considering a bid for this bijou oud AND in possession of a 5-figure paypal account ... nolo bene

Andy - 11-22-2007 at 05:12 PM

I guess I am the only one who wrote this missed directed individual in enlightening him or her on the availability and pricing of this type of oud. The seller obviously hasn't a clue and believes that each piece of the back was placed one by one making this a highly prized masterpiece one of a kind oud.
Hope all had a Happy Thanksging Day.

billkilpatrick - 11-23-2007 at 01:23 AM

very courteous and kind of you, andy - tropo gentile.

from the date and time the auction is scheduled to end (pst), i was trying to figure out what time of day ( ... or night) it was originally posted (est) and if intoxification might have influenced the asking price.

speling airers kan be a reel gude klew ...

Microber - 11-23-2007 at 03:25 AM

For the one who will buy the oud, a nice place for hollydays.
 :airguitar:
