Hmmm looks like ouds are beginning to attract serious money these days....
Nice oud though.
Sometimes I wonder if a musical instrument could be worth so much in the Middle East, unless it has sentimental value, ie owned by Atrash or
something, and excluding those redicilous black ouds with gold rosettes. Like could a baglma be priced at $5000?

Are people simply copying the west? as biased as that sounds, I rhink it carries the message across. I say this because of some observations I've
made. A year or so ago I asked Ian Watchorn (professional luthier who restored an oud of mine), how much he would charge to build an oud from
scratch, and he said that the "starting" price would be around $A6000. And he admitted than if you travel for the Middle East you can get a damn good
instrument for around $2000, and this was becuase of living standards and cost of living etc...I guess what I'm trying to get at, is whether the so
called "information age" ie, the internet, has impacted much on the price of ouds.
