Yassas Fellow Oud Freaks,
There are two "traditional Greek instruments" series that are available in Greece. (I have the lauto recording from the "tan" label series, but was
not especially impressed with the recordings.)
Here is the outi (oud) recording from each series:
"Tan" label: http://www.studio52.gr/info_en.asp?infoID=00000hbp
"Green" label: http://www.studio52.gr/info_en.asp?infoID=00000a3g
Here are the lauto recordings:
Tan: http://www.studio52.gr/info_en.asp?infoID=00000arp
Green: http://www.studio52.gr/info_en.asp?infoID=00000a3h
The "green label" series has a kanonaki (qanoun) recording that is an absolute killer. The performer is a Greek Orthodox priest! (couldn't find the
CD on Studio 52's web catalogue)
BTW, Studio 52 in Thessaloniki is the probably the best CD shop in all of Greece, especially for traditional music.
Hopefully, you can use the CD booklet info to find out more about the lauto played.
Good luck,
John |
