Thanks very much for the translation Zalzal.
Does that imply it was made by Mohammed Fadel Hussein, or would it be the work of the sons, or perhaps another member of the family?

It says Mohamed fadel hussein and sons.
i think he was still verry active at that time and in good health too.
i dont know how to tell to make sure its a real or fake but it shows signs of time.
how does it sound?Greg - 1-23-2008 at 11:30 PM

Hi Samir, it clearly has been played a lot. It sounds good. It belongs to my teacher.

And is your teacher hoping to get it off his hands Greg?? Ronny Andersson - 1-24-2008 at 02:43 AM
Is an authentic oud and it does not matter if he have been working alone or not since at this period his ouds are among the best of his production.veyselmaster - 1-24-2008 at 05:27 AM
Hello greg I have a 1962 mohammed fadel hussein oud and it's a very nice condicion.

best regardsGreg - 1-24-2008 at 07:04 AM
Thanks to everyone for your input. And thanks, in particular, to Ronny for the confirmation of its authenticity. I was reasonably sure it was the real
deal, but Ronny is the expert on Iraqi ouds.
Melbourne, I will let you know if it ever becomes available for sale
Thanks veyselmaster, for the picture of your Fadel, it is very beautiful and looks to be almost the same design.

Cheers Greg
And your oud Veyselmaster is very beautiful - not to mention the condition. Theres something very interesting about Iraqi ouds is that sooo many are
so simple and "humble", and hence sometimes misleading when it comes to quality, but the sound is definitelly always there...And Fadels ouds always
speak for themselves of course.

The shape/design of these two ouds are typical for Fadel. The ¨best¨ fakes are made in Iraq but all makers seems to do some mistakes, some severe
mistakes and some very silly mistakes - our luck
