Hi all,
Can anyone help to identify the Oudmaker of Farid Ghosn in the taqassim attached? The sound of his Oud is really impressive. It seems that the
recording is home made, Jalsa. Meanwhile enjoy this Nahawand Taqssim from this great oud player.

I would guess it is either a Nahat or a Gamil Georges oud.Oudism - 2-12-2008 at 12:25 PM

James, Kata saved me a lot of money when I asked him which Oudmaker I go for. Since I am a biginner player he said go for a cheap Oud and if you like
playing Oud invest on a good one. As a frequent visitor for the forum I was willing to go for an azar oud, but I followed his advice. I got an oud
from the web, so far so good. But no time to practice often due to work and family.
I personally think that it's not a bad idea to try any oud before investing in a good one, especially for biginners players, instead of spending lot
of money on a Oud and hang it afterwards into the wall mmmm...It would
be a decorative element at home. A dust-collecting-Item not a bad ideaSamirCanada - 2-12-2008 at 12:33 PM
I dissagree...
you can always sell back your professional quality oud. if you decide its not for you.
often for more then you paid since the person doesnt have to wait for a new one.
when you decide to buy a better oud... that old one will be collecting dust but anyways its good sometimes to have a oud you can take to a pick nick
and rough it up a little without carring to much about it being scratched or anything.
