After much deliberation, I have decided to sell my 1910 Ikhwan (Arabic for "Brothers") Nahat oud. I bought the oud from Nazih Ghadban. It is all
original, except for possibly the center rosette. The top is spruce, and the bowl is walnut and probably (at least according to Nazih) terebinth,
which is a tree used to make turpentine, among other things. The tone is outstanding. Since acquiring it from Nazih, Richard Hankey removed the
french polish on the soundboard (it wasn't original anyway), sanded down a minor scratch on the soundboard, and touched up the finish on the bowl in
two places. Incidentally, he said it was the finest Arabic oud he'd ever played.
I bought the oud from Nazih for $3,500, and that's what I'm selling it for. I'll throw in the hard shell case Richard made for it.
More photos and sound file to follow tomorrow. If interested, please email me off-forum at keithdhodges@comcast.net
