Check out the depth of the bowl on this oud right behind the main hole. It doesn't taper off right away, but stays nice and deep behind the hole, then
tapers quickly to the neck.

Huh. I see that - wonder what's happening on the top. There goes the turned-on-a-lathe oud shape symmetry?
And - I think I need a fez and a monocle. Too cool.
