where i can buy an oud in Israel?

omeriko - 6-20-2008 at 01:52 AM

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to this stuff, but did some reading and i really can't wait to start playing this brilliant instrument!

I've been playing guitar for 15 years so i think that it shouldn't be too difficult for me to play the oud.

does anyone know where to buy an oud in Israel, preferebly in the center area (Tel Aviv, Yafo etc)?
I've been in the "big" stores (kley-zemer, halilit, marom) but couldn't find it there...

thanks!

Hey OMERIKO

shalom shalom! If you go to yaffo, they have some really good ouds there, but you have to serch for them . go to shuk apushpashim. i saw some really nice ones. and nice priced....

If you want out of tel aviv go to abu allah one of the best ouds and sounds i ever heard. I am working on getting one from him now.

DaveH - i already searched the forums, unfortunately the thread that you found was not very helpful to me.

oudplayer - Shabat Shalom to you too :)

my budget is around 1000 nis (~300$).
I'm just looking for a beginners oud, nothing fancy.

does anyone knows a specific address/phone number of a seller?
where do Israelis buy ouds?

hey man

abu alla phone is 0505367499 . try it . he might have something used or he deff can tell you where to get one.

I know in yaffo you can get a nice pro turkish oud for about 300 or so by haluk. he is a amazing builder. he is turkish but he exports his ouds.

thx sammy

A'hi Abu 'Ala will be expensive and useless if you are a beginner. Maybe just go to Yafo, at Tchetouri's shop, on the kikar hasha'on, next to the 'halilit shop. I know that sometimes you can find there decent ouds for a relatively decent price.
Maybe this is this shop that Sammy meant.

My advice to u- don't buy cheap oud if u want to enjoy and progress - u will be unhappy with it - it happened to me !
make an effort - 4000 nis will get u great oud u will enjoy playing and u will save the 1000 and more cause u will probably improve it while u play it...
I can help

sent him an email, waiting for reply.w
