I am trying to buy a used Oud and this private seller is asking $550.00 for this Oud. Is it one of those tourist Ouds?
I was tols that the back has an inlaid mosaic.

Yes, this is clearly a tourist oud! Especially the poor craftsmanship on the peg box. That oud is not worth that much money. The "inlay" is also not
mother-of-pearl or anything special, it is going to be a cheap imitation.

Thank you Nadir. I wanted to buy an Oud but I didn't want to spend much money. I saw some on the Other
Worlds website http://www.oworlds.com/product/OUD6/Egyptian_Standard_Oud_with_Hard...
Do you have any other places that you can recommend?

I'm not able to give a serious opinion about the egyptian "standard" oud on the link, but the case in which it's sold doesn't protect better than a
thin soft case. These "hardcases" are not rigid at all and there is no pad inside to keep the oud in a secure position......
Maybe we can believe that an instrument sold in such a case doesn't worth to be protect as a good one?
