Ive fitted an Aquilla plain Nyal gut 'd'. Early days but I like it, it sounds very ethnic and it is nice to not have the dramatic change in tone
between the 'd' and the 'g', which is less noticeable with nylon sets. The plain 'd' gives my Sukar oud a kind of Nahat effect, which is most welcome.
I may even consider fitting the 'A' course as plain to give that a try also. The gauge I've fitted is NG91, it sits well and is not too tight. I
certainly recommend trying this, especially if you favour Maqamet in 'd' or 'g'. The wound 'd' is a seductive sound in itself but I think the plain
'd' gives my oud more depth and musicality of tone. C

Nice to hear it Charlie. I think the Nylguts are tailor made for this sort of arrangement, since they end up thinner than nylon when finally stretched
in. I think it might be a stretch (pun intended )) to use one for the AA, but if
you don't mind the feeling of thicker strings, go for it! We're waiting for your results, and a sound clip if you can manage.

Nice pun Jameel !!. I like it.
Yes, it may be a 'stretch', hard to 'gauge', may be a 'bridge' to a new experience for a 'nut' like me if I can get into the 'groove'. Of 'course'
I,ll post results, no 'strings' attatched. C
