I'm interested in playing with a friend who plays the mediaeval European wire harp. This has a similar sound and range to the Turkish cheng (as used
in Bezmara's recordings), and like the cheng you can't do anything to change the pitch of a string during a piece - you tune to the pitch set of a
specific makam and stay with it. Otherwise, any tuning goes.
Any suggestions for (preferably Turkish) pieces that would fit? I guess I'd be looking for rather old repertoire.
