Oud Workshop With Raed Khoshaba

Dear fellow oud players,

I would like to share with you that I just have participated in an Oud workshop led by the wonderful maestro oud player Raed Khoshaba (http://www.raedkhoshaba.com/index.html) who lives in Germany.

This workshop was organized by Matthias Wagner from Badenweiler, who is well known to many of us here in the forum as beeing very generous with sound and well founded advice on oud issues. Parallel to it there was a workshop with Joss Turnbull on the frame drum, and these two workshops culminated in a common finishing performance allowing the particpiants to experience the things they have learned.

From my side I must tell that I'm very greatful to having been able to participate there - this is such a huge difference between trying to learn oud from records and sheet music and having a living maestro in front of you giving what really could be called a transmission.

What appeared to be quite dfficult before felt into place by itself by beeing present with Raed - the fingers just do the right things by themselves.

As far as I understood Matthias Wagner is planning to organize further workshops with Raed and I would strongly encourage everybody who is near enough to this little town located in Southern Germany (not far from Basel, Switzerland) to come and to participate - it may make the big differece in your oud live (no, i'm not payed to write this, just exhilerated to have experienced that).

I will be glad to forward your enquiries to Matthias if you don't know how to contact him directly.

I remain with my best wishes to everybody

Robert

Thanks for this new topic, Robert.
From here, I had a look to Raed Khoshaba's website in which I found a youtube clip of Samai Munir Bashir .
I just asked for a sound or videoclip a few days ago in another thread......

I agree with you when you say how it's different to learn alone or with a teacher.....Learning alone, i'm sure that I spend long times to improve technical specifies on the oud, to verify their value to avoid installing defaults of playing.....It would take a few mn with a good teacher.......

But Germany is far from here. Matthias could bring his workshop on the Atlantic coast of France.....warm Weather, nice country.....Just an idea;)

MAGIC FORUM!!!! ( thanks to Mike, of course!)

Hi Francis, thanks for reply.
Actually that is not a bad idea at all to have a kind of 'oud camp' in France. Why don't you contact Matthias to suggest that...

best wishes

Robert

Thats excellent Robert, you sound inspired by the workshop, hope we can see some pictures of the event. ( May be its best to keep your Amin oud, perhaps it will sound different to you now. I like the sound of this oud ) Best, C
