Piyut ata el kabir

Masel - 3-27-2009 at 03:47 AM

I am abit shy about my voice but here I am singing and playing a piyut by R. Refal Antebi, the tune is an old turkish song "suda yena bir". The playing could of been more interesting but I am not so good at singing and playing together so...

Thanks Masel for this beautiful song.
And what about your voice? I would like to play and sing like you do.
You really don't have to be shy......give us more, for our pleasure!!!

Although I don't understand anything..
But Masel that was great!! Really good effort :)

You play well. I cannot play and sing at the same time yet. Don't be shy at all.
Apart than your voice being a bit low (the mic should be closer to your mouth than the oud) I really liked it :)
Keep on singing and recording for us!!

Masel how long have you been playing the oud?

Masel - 3-27-2009 at 11:47 PM

I've been playing the oud three years and before I've also been playing guitar for 11.

I have listened to your recordings.. They are great. It's really a good progress during 3 years.
Your style sounds Arabic more than it sounds Turkish.. right?

Masel - 3-28-2009 at 06:38 AM

Thank you Reda yes I guess my style is more arabic. I've listened to alot of the old iraqi style, also morroccan and lately alot of yemeni. I've listened to alot of turkish music and I love it but I guess it comes through less in my playing. I started learning with a turkish style teacher because I would like to be able to choose and make my own style. I might though go and study persian music in a good school here.
