Hi all,
The bowl of the new Solomon's padauk or (Papua New Guinea ) oud with Wenge purfling is almost finished, Rosewood family. I love the shiny golden brown
color of this wood.
So I thought let’s give it a try. I will post more pictures as I progress. The sound board will be a master grade American Red Cedar.

I like it a lot! You made a great choice (I can only tell looks wise, as I do not build Ouds) of wood, and I hope to see this one come along!

All,
I have finaly mounted the strings yesterday on the OUD. I must say that the sound is very young to be uploaded yet. All seems to be calibrated for the
first day.
The oud is finished with shellak.
Here are the pictures.

Beautiful work sabbassi, love the varying shades and tones on the bowl with the (maple is it ??) pegbox backing.

Thanks guys for the nice comments. I'm going on holidays soon to see my friend khalid http://www.belhaibaoud.com. He is also building a professional oud for me from rosewood , epicea and Flat Horn Paltes (made from bufalo horn) for
the finger board and the pickguard

Dude...a horn fingerboard should be pretty awesome ! I had a bone fingerboard on an oud made by Richard Hankey, really liked the feel. Hope you post
some pics/sound samples of the rosewood oud too !
