I meant to post this a while back but since then the USDA Forest Service has changed its web site. The book (GTR-113) used to be available in its
entirety for download but now only individual chapters are available. Perhaps the download of the entire book was too much of a load on their server
(14MB). Not so much of a loss really as the chapters on bridge building and fire safety, for example, are not likely to be of much interest to
instrument workers, but Chap. 3, for example, "Physical properties and moisture relations of wood" is full of usefull information. In any case, if
you go to http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/search/index.php and type in "wood handbook" you will get all the individual chapters (plus several hundred other
references). If you really want the entire handbook, send me a U2U and I will email a copy - again 14MB.

Hi Harry
Thank you for the post.
Could you please email me the entire book? I have no problem with it's size.
You can find my email at the bottom of the post.
Thank you
