I know nothing of the maker, but it looks like a beautiful oud, enjoy it in good health. Any chance of a sound file?

Nice! It looks well-made and very attractive, it's clearly not one of those cheap vegetable market ouds. I'd say you will be happy.
Are you getting new strings right away? These look like they might be usable. I can't tell for sure but it looks like it's missing the top 2 strings,
just like my first oud, I guess a lot of ouds are sold that way. Some people told me that if an oud is strung with 9 strings, it's always the bottom
course that's missing, and I made the mistake of trying to tune the 9 strings FAADDggcc. The highest string was a 0.028" and that was too much
tension, you could feel the strain, it nearly damaged it. If you can't measure the string thickness, or put a set of new strings on it right away (the
ideal solution), find 2 thin strings, like 0.020", for the top cc course, better safe than sorry, even some fishing line can work for a few days. You
can attach them to the last pegs for now, and redo the order in the pegbox when you put on new strings.
How high are the strings above the fingerboard where the neck joins the body? Is it comfortable? Can you show a side view like the photo below? Can
you record a little sound file just plucking the open strings?

You have two choices, either when you edit the message look for the Attachment section below, and attach the MP3 like this one. It has to be under 1
MB in size. If you have a server you can put it up on, then you just create a link to it in your post, by using the "insert a Hyperlink" button, and
then size is irrelevant. Generally for a quick test the 1 MB size is enough.
Record the instrument with the microphone far enough away that one can hear the room ambience, then one can make out the sound better. This is because
our brains compensate for the microphone etc if we have some "cues" from the room echoes. If you put the mic right up close, and especially if you add
some processing to make it sound nicer, you can make any instrument sound just about like any other, and that's not the purpose here.
Where did you get the oud? I didn't mean to insult you, it's that we see a lot of tourist ouds for sale, and this is not one of them. I like it, if
everything is as carefully done as the details we can see, this should be a very nice instrument. I also wrongly assumed you had JUST gotten it, and
that you might not know what strings you had on it, I sure didn't.
