ear all
this is my first contribution to your great forum, though i have been following it up quite interestedly for a while- i play oud and oriental clarinet
and depite my greek background i am fascinated by sayed darweesh and coptic music, following the steps of the great cantor michael moussa who devoted
his life to gathering and reviving coptic music heritage and composing in the classical melasmatic coptic style. this long encounter with michael has
given me me the chance to explore his deep sprituality as a christian sofist pure of any partaility or fanatism but niether myslef or any other
friend/scholar has managed to bring to the circle of light his multitalents as a great doctor"consultant paediatrician", peot, musicologist and last
but not least as unsuperseded luthier- i have witnessed the birth of his master pieces namely his gift ouds to the brothers mohammed and mustafa anter
the replical of abelaziz al lethy to kelly and ammar, the eplica of abdu nahat to glen and adel salama, the replica of manoli (kept by michael) and
the repica of khalil al gohari under construction but by far the greatest oud i have ever seen and played was the zebrano bashir replica gifted to
emad nairus the conductor of the ctv channel. these replicas as well as his own designs are too good to be true, very reasonablly priced and on may
occasions were better than the original. so, i decided after a long conflict to give off my nahat oud so that i can buy 4 of michael maior styles. the
oud was built by george hana nahat 1940, all original, excellent condition highly decorated with mosaic back, ivory sofisticated rose, and mother of
pearl fingerboard - i left the instument with michael and tried to upload some of the photos - i will accept 3500 uro or £3000
