The highly acclaimed Iranian music phenomena, Shams Ensemble, will show audiences its collection of dynamic music influenced by sufi traditions on
Sept. 27 at 7:00 pm in the Davies Symphony Hall.Their music fuses ancient Persian instruments with the modern world music of today.
The first part of the concert will feature the mesmerizing mystic and spiritual sufi music played on the tanbour and daf (framed drum) . Then the
Pournazeries will play heart pounding rhythms by combining the sound of traditional Persian and Brazilian instruments.
Shams Ensemble dedicates each performance in this years U.S concert tour to the freedom movement of Iran.
