Hi!
I'm actually from Colorado, but I will be living in Regensburg Germany for a year. I have never picked up an oud before. However, I've studied Jazz +
classical guitar for close to 20 years. I've been to the Lark in the Morning Camp in Mendicino etc...
I have been dying to learn for years now (I'd like to learn some tunes that my friends could bellydance to) and was hoping that I'd be able to take
lessons from someone in Germany while I am here. I really need more music in my life to offset the intense academics at the University. I also need to
find an very affordable Oud. Not a tourist oud - but not fancy to start. I could purchase one here in Germany but I may also be able to take a trip to
Turkey....
I'd really appreciate any advice you could give me.
VIELEN DANK!

greetings- well if you're able to take a trip to Turkey you'll find an oud for sure. Do a search on Istanbul and you'll find a lot of helpful recent
posts on where to look for ouds in Istanbul by forum members who have been there. Generally, the more you can spend on an oud the better quality it
will be, so don't go for the cheapest one you find.
Everyone here in the forum will agree, once you start to play the oud you'll get hooked and there's no turning back, so get yourself a good one bud.
You may even find one in Germany. If you're not sure about any oud, just ask in the forum and someone will usually help with advice. regards, MW
