Hey

Anybody knows how reliable arabinstruments.com is? Or anybody bought an oud from that guy and had good/bad experience?

Thanks

Alex

For what it's worth, I don't believe anyone has given a writeup yet... I've seen a bunch of ouds advertised though.

It's a little delicate. We are a small community and it seems nobody wants to step on anybody's toes too much. It's not "that guy", it's Assaf, you can see his picture with his kid on page 7 of "who we are". Still, it's important to report the "objective facts". After Palmyrami, it's important Arab Instruments get its "consumer reports". I would imagine that since Assaf hangs out here, he's both well-informed and concerned with his reputation, so I would guess that, pricing aside, he has a spotless record. What I'd like to know is how "professional" those Gawharet El Fan ouds are.

I didnt mean to be sound rude by saying " that guy" and feel sorry if you took it like that. Didnt know about the picture either. I'm speaking with Assaf through email but he never told me his name. I'm looking for feedback from people before perhaps buying an oud from arabinstruments.com, simple as that.

Sorry

hmm....I'm very interested in the quality of their instruments as well. I saw them on ebay a little while ago. I'm in the market for an oud so someone buy one and let us know! lol

Of course, no problem, I was just partly joking and partly pointing out the delicate issues. The Internet's "anonymity" has both advantages and limitations. Many people here would like to know more about Assaf's "pro" ouds.
