I think the coils, springs, go from the tail block to the neck block and vibrate like a spring reverb unit... my cellist friend did the same thing to
his cello, but had the springs attached from the bridge to a membrane in a piece of downpipe attached to the body of the cello, ugly looks but
beautiful sound, like having sympathetic strings, or like playing in a big hall. I think there is something about it on the musical instrument makers

The springs look like screen door springs, but I would look for very light gauge to reduce the weight and tension. The tension should be just enough
to produce a tone when they vibrate. here's a picture through the rose:

my question is this..The coil plays the roll of a sympathetic string that co-ordinates with some frequencies.BUT does it add a more "metalic" colour
