I can vouch for Edward's instruments, having heard them in person -- great builder and great musician!
I'm looking for a similar instrument, but solid body electric...

resurrecting this thread, as Im revisiting this project for a fully electric context. Ive talked to Ed, and looking at some other builders/solutions
also.
Though Im not convinced of its tone for both either oud or guitar ( and his music i s nt quite my thing), functionally, the idea and concept of Nabil
Khemir;s instrument is closest to what I'm looking for, functionally speaking.
While there are a number of great makers represented and /or discussed here, im not sure they all equally understand what goes into a good
electric guitar or have that experience. Conversely, there are number of great guitar builders here, but that may not know what really goes into a
proper oud in terms of angle, action, etc. Even Godin's multioud misses the mark in some subtle ways,as we;ve been discussing on the other thread.
So my current thinking is that since there a number of electric ouds being made frame style (see example ), is to have someone build just the oud neck
and electronics plank, minus the frame, then somebody here could incorporate that into the rest of a build. This would allow for each builder to
concentrate on what they do best and optimize each builder's skill set , without causing the stress and anxiety to build the less familiar portion.
And it would be a nice collaborative/team venture, to boot!
I've contacted Najarian and Dmitri for quotes re the oud plank, lets see what they say!

Thanks! someone had mentioned these to me as running into them at the Frankfurt Messe some years back, but a google search for Sonomusic gave me a
music shop in Tunisia, but no direct info on this line.
Anyone seen these in person? whats the build quality? Theyre close, but would have to be tweaked.

shalom, I had been thinking about you on this project! I ran across some of your videos on you tube while doing a search. You do great work, my
friend.
My concern is the electric guitar portion; they are a little different, especially if we go semi hollow body direction. have you dealt with Bigsbys
and pickups, etc ?
Id be interested in your ideas...

These look nice:

But I do like the idea of merging a toilet seat oud with an electric guitar. Taking something like a Chinese solid body guitar and cutting off much of
the body, and mounting it beside a toilet seat oud central plank, on a common frame. That wouldn't even require any custom work other than making the
frame (or getting a lovely King Size oak toilet seat) ;-)

The lid is especially intriguing. It could be used to fill the space, or to cover the instrument for the night ;-)
