Yemeni Concert in Oakland, CA - 2/7/10

Greetings oud fellow oud freaks,

Yemeni singer and oudist Abdul Rahman Al-Akhfash will be performing in Oakland, California on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010.

I had never heard of him before picking up the flyer at "Oasis," our great new Arabic market. Here is a YouTube video of him:

I have no idea how much it costs, but would love to go if possible. I also don't know whether he's performing solo or with an ensemble.

I called the promoter today. He's sold 150 tickets, but needs to sell 100 more or he may cancel the event. If you are interested, please call him by Sunday.

Tickets are $30 without dinner, $50 with. Food will be "gourmet" Indian/Pakistani.

Instrumentataion will be singer/oud, keyboard, and two percussionists.

What number did you call? I tried to call the number on the poster 510-821-1758 and didn't get anybody.

Hi Kiki,

I called the number on the flyer--the same one. It's the cell phone of Habib, a young Yemeni-American who is organizing the event. Maybe try again? Don't forget the time difference on the West Coast.
