A Thank You to Mr Faruk Turunz

Dear Fellow Members,

I've been playing Oud for a long time now, and during the years so many ouds came across my hands. I purchased many and custom built 3 ouds; 2 from Salmeen (Indian Rosewood, Kuwait), and 1 from the Master Faruk Turunz, (Brazilian Rosewood, Turkey).

Mr Turunz just put an end to my search for that illusive perfect instrument. Tens of ouds that I've played on had few good properties in contrast with their faults. The double sound board Oud made by the master incorporates the qualities required by an acoustic instrument while it also eliminates many faults. For example, one often finds an Oud that sounds rich but with the neck too thin, or the strings elevated or spaced out, or pegs problematic, or slides are muted, or sound box too thin, too fat....etc. Or more than one issue altogether. In other words, the methodical approach in construction worked out brilliantly in producing one of the most "correct" ouds.

Optimum playing is when it’s effortless and when the instrument responds to your exact requirements, as if you can play with only your left hand. I believe that my investment in a Turunz Oud yielded great satisfactory benefits.

Guitar makers always were superior in their construction than Oud makers; however, Mr Turunz produced, in my opinion, the first perfect Oud good enough to be compared with them all.

I highly recommend attempting to play on a Faruk Turunz Oud.

Thank you Mr Faruk Turunz

The wood might be dead, but the oud is alive.
