Syrian oud

I have found a pictures of this Syrian oud in a book and I love the shape and simplicity of the oud. I see also this picture on some old Labella Strings packages.

I would love to build a Replica of it, so please, If any one out there knows anything about this oud, please share with me any picture or stories to get as close as possible to the origial oud.

It seemes to be located in Horniman Museum, London

Thank you in advance

Samir

Hi Samir!

It looks to me that the oud in the picture is a drowing, not a real oud!? Am I wrong??

P.s. You already know that I think you are a grate oud maker.. and I honestly think that your ouds look wanderful, better than the oud in this picture :-)

Best luck with your project

The wood might be dead, but the oud is alive.

Hi Luttgutt,

Thanks mate.
I'm building 4 new ouds and I would like 1 oud to be different. It is adrawing maybe but probably taken from an Orginal oud, who knows
I will post anyway the progress of one oud building from scrach on this thread. I will cover as much details as possible starting from sawing the ribs.
