USC Grad Film Seeking Oud Players
Hello, I’m a graduate student at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and I’m producing a film this semester called “Baladi.” It’s a 5 min.
short that will be screened this May.
My team and I are excited for this opportunity to share a unique and beautiful story with our community.
We’re looking to cast oud players in the LA area for the film or if possible to rent ouds for the film.
I’m reaching out to this forum for any suggestions, advice or contacts.
Any information will be greatly appreciated!
Chao

Check with John Bilezikjian: http://www.dantzrecords.com/, or
Viken Najarian: http://www.oud.net/ -- They would be able to give you some suggestions on where to look, or they may be able to help you directly. Good Luck.

Hi Chao,
I am guessing from the film name, "Baladi," that the theme or setting is Arabic. All of the excellent oud players named above are Armenian. Armenian
oud style is quite different from Arabic style.
I suggest contacting Wael Kakish (http://www.kanzaman.org/director.html), the artistic director of the LA area's "community" Arabic ensemble, Kan Zaman. He not only plays oud
himself, but he will know all of the good Arabic-style oud players in the LA area (Naser Musa, Afif Taian, Nabil Azzam, William Shaheen [?], etc.) and
how to contact them.
Good luck,
John
