New Simon Shaheen CD?
I remember reading something a year or two ago about Simon Shaheen being in the process of recording a double CD of taqasim. Does anyone have any
updates on this?
All the best

I know he's been doing some recording, but it's not the taqasim CD. I think that's on hold for now.
I've given up on waiting for a new record . . . we'll have it when we have it.

Thanks Brian. That's a shame, I was really looking forward to that CD. I just checked the "Blue Flame" CD, and see the date on it is 2001, so a new
one is definitely overdue!
All the best

It's a pity to wait one whole decade to see/listen to another album from this distinguished player. What prevents him from interring a studio to
record an hour or so of taqaseem ? People around the world wait to have such a record, whether of Simon's or from other masters of the oud.
I think they owe us some good studio recording of taqaseem.
Yours indeed

Dear Al Faraby,
In fact this a simple and great idea!
A serie of CDs dedicated only to Taqasims, the production cost won't be very high, all it takes is a day or two in a good studio, a bit of mastering,
could even go direct to Itunes, it won't sell thousands but there is a niche market populated with many people like us who'd love to pay 10 bucks for
an hour of good taqasims.
I will try to share this idea with some friends.

I happened to talk to Simon yesterday. He said half the new record has been recorded, but they had to move to a different location, so he is now
looking for another place to record. He has been touring constantly and has been presenting some works for oud and orchestra, so I know he has had
little time for recording.
