Hijazkar Taqsim

Another attempt at maqam Hijazkar.

I was focussing particularly on the descending sayr and an interesting modulation I found in this piece:

Still working on my technique too.

nice Hijazkar , thanks!

When it s a descending seyir I like the back and forth on the octave to tonic

In fact Taqsim is a very personal subject .
Mine approach of a maqam , could be different from others, different feeling, different flavour.

Another aspect is that Taqsim isnt something that comes alone. I mean taqsim is played to introduce a piece after. So I think taqsim must be focus on the melody movement of the piece.

Hi.
Thanks:)
I agree with your good point about a taqsim leading into a piece and incorporating ideas from the piece into the taqsim.
I do need to work on this more.

Thanks again Fadel for your help too.
Very much apprecieated:).
I will work on the exercises and things you have shown me.

I noticed that the older Arabic recordings of taqasim in this maqam reveal the descending sayr, whereas often more recent ones treat the maqam as a ascending-descending scale.
