Alan, do you know if that website is still viable? I was interested in purchasing some of the recordings they offer but so many links to their own
pages are broken, there is no answer at the given phone number and even the email address given leads to a dead end. I sure hope it's still going
because they have a lot of good music.

I don't know. I used them once about a year ago. That is the only place I could Buzuk recording for Mohammad Abdel Karim and the recordings I was
missing for Matar Muhammad. The site was in bad shape even then. They sell copies not original media. The stuff I bought you can't find in original
media. ymmv

Thanks. I guess I won't be making any paypal payments into a void. Pity, because they have some great buzuk and oud recordings. One link that does
work is to some free downloads of Saliba al Qatreeb which are well worth a listen in my opinion.
My email message to them bounced back and when I tried to send a message using the template offered by the site I got a message saying that the name
of the person sending the message must have at least 100 characters! I even tried to get that to work but the Name Field would accept no more than 50
characters. I even entered my name as " At least 100 characters". Rejected for not being long enough.

I bought some stuff a long time ago from (I think) an earlier version of the site . . . it was all bootlegs on CDr. This could be an good resource,
but as with many things operating in legal gray areas, its continued operation is unpredictable and sending them credit card info is a bit risky
(though PayPal is pretty safe).
There is a mailing address.

Mohammed Abd el Karim IS available.
Happy Update: although I hadn't left a message Fawzi Zaden the proprietor of the website, noted that I had called and phoned back. He is definitely
still selling MP3-s and is a friendly man providing music recordings that can't be found elsewhere. Now I will place my order for some rarities.

They do have some rare stuff, though the quality is variable at best. Some things are CD rips and others are 32 kbps recordings with someone else's
website named in the ID3 tags. Also note that some of their stuff may be available elsewhere in better quality.

At a glance sama3y.net seems to have some Mohammad Abdel Karim stuff. If you can read Arabic I suggest getting an account there. They have a massive
archive of stuff.

I bought the Artists I could not find anywhere else and yes I used paypal.
If you are getting Buzuk music I recommend getting Matar Mohammad while you are there.
The quality is not good. One of the Matar Mohammad sets was a rip from Vinyl complete with stylus pops! The other may be rips from cassette tape
considering the quality.
But considering the lack of an alternative I was very happy to find those recordings.

Thanks. Yes I ordered the Matar Mohammed recordings as well. Rips from cassette would be better than the sound quality of most of the Mohammed Abd el
Karim I've heard which sounds as if it was recorded on a bad cell phone and then sent via Skype to a telephone answering machine from 1975. But the
music is wonderful and creative. Here's a sample. It's the shortest recording of his that I have but was still 1.7 mb. Forum moderator Greg kindly
took the time to reduce it by half. It's lost much of its liveliness but maybe worth posting anyway.

Hi Jody
No, I cannot read arabic
When I was living in Syria, it was also difficult to find buzuk cds. I bought a couple of Matar Mohammad and one of Mohammad Abdel Karim (mp3) But
when I moved from Damascus to Aleppo, I lost one of my plastic bags with some cds
In Aleppo I didn´t find Abdel Karim music (maybe there is, but I didn´t find it) at that time it was the third month of the uprising, so finally I
came back to Spain from Aleppo, I just change the flight in Damascus, so no way to move to the city to buy some stuff I needed.
I´m specially interested in Abdel Karim pieces, like I said before tango, raqset al Saitan... not takasim...
thanks to all!
