Preamp for electric oud
Hey oud lovers,
I started to make a thin eletric oud for travel easily.
Do you know a good preamp with 3 band EQ like this one but smaller ?! Size max with battery would be L90 x W55 x D55 ( generally the problem) ...
The depth is to big !...
Furthermore ,ideal would be a preamp with output for headphone but i believe it doesn't exist

There are hundreds of models on ebay, mostly direct from China. The Artec line includes the PP-637B wide 6 string piezo pickup that is spaced right
for an oud.

At the moment I can't find the US vendor I got some from, and who had a pretty wide selection inexpensively priced at an ebay "store", and delivered
quickly without gambling on what exactly you'll get, but look around.
Look through all their models, including the "guts-only" ones that don't have an enclosure.

It's worth noting that you can take the guts out of the can if depth is a problem. Shehata builds these into ouds by ripping off the face too.
As to quality, piezo pre-amps are not rocket science, the sound in large measure depends on the pickup, how it's matched to the pre-amp, the position
of the pickup, luck, etc. If you have some skill and/or patience it's pointless to buy expensive fancy stuff, you can make inexpensive circuits like
these work very well.

Thank you Fernandraynaud for your advices.
I m gonna buy a preamp from Artec I guess. There is a big choice of preamp.
For the moment, i chose the FSE3TN model. The depth is very small (40 mm). That is perfect for my electric oud with a thin body.
Furthermore they make a pickup piezo with a cable of 85 mm. (ref PC85) Just enough !
But my problem for listening directly sound of my oud with headphone is not resolved. I need an "amplug" (or another compact system)
like Vox model but with reverb !... !...
If somebody have an idea ?!
Thank you again.

There are oudles and oudles of guitar practice amps that provide reverb, including pocket models like this one:

But if you have a laptop, run the oud into the laptop and use effects plug-ins in a DAW like REAPER.

You can get any sound you want.
