oud maker in Bruxelles ?
Hi,
I'd like to know if someone has informations about arabic oud makers in Bruxelles ? I'm travelling there this autumn, I've heard about a lebanese guy
that makes fine ouds in Bruxelles but I don't have any precise information.
Any suggestions or recommandations ?
Best,
Julien.

If this may help, I guess Yarub Mohammed Fadel is still living in Belgium.
He is an iraki maker, for a long time Naseer Shamma played his ouds.
You can get in touch with him via facebook:

Hi Julien,
I live in Liège (100km from Bruxelles) and I've never heard about any lebanese luthier there.
The only workshop i've ever heard is Tao guitars.
They seem to specialize in electric guitars. But I know they already made some electric ouds. But never seen or heard them.
The Lebanese luthier closest to Brussels is to my knowledge Fadi Matta... in Beyrouth
Otherwise, Yaroub Fadel is living in Belgium now. But I know nothing about his luthier activity.

Hello folks...
I just read the "complaint" about the prices near 2000 Euro...
Think, if a guitar-maker or violion-maker takes a lot more for one instrument wich could be made in a few hours (days perhaps)...
The price for a really good flamenco-guitar (p.e.) is more than 5000 Euro... up to no limit... and nobody complains about this. The price for a good
violin is 4000 up to no limit also. So why is this acceptable and "normal", while the making of an oud all by hand (because there is no way to make it
per mashine) has to be cheap ? The guitar and the violin are mostly manufactured with parts coming out of mashines... the parts are physically all the
same in measurement and features, from one instrument to the other. Only the assembly is just done by hand. But the Oud, with all his curves, bows,
parts to adapt to all the others, the bowl itself... the head, neck, bridge etc. ... why it isn´t "permissed" to make a price matching the really
work and workmanship ???
Only because the oud isn´t such popular as a guitar or a violin ?
Sure, there are many ouds made with no love and have no soul, but they are NOT goot examples for a really good handmade Oud in this time... and I
think of a NEW oud ! Today we have the possibilties to take oud-making as a science... and the ones, who make fine ouds, are skilled in many things.
Those, who will not pay good for a good work, will always get not good instruments.
Hope, you agree... after a moment of brain-work :-)
