oud repairs again

hello everyone, i already posted about this but i have come back to rephrase my question. so i originally said, i totalled my oud, that was an overreaction, what happened is this: i dropped the oud (which has 21 ribs) on its bowl which resulted in: 7 of the ribs (which are still glued to each other) separating from the rest of the bowl, from the base to about halfway up the instrument. one of these cracks is merely a separation between the ribs, but the other crack starts out as a separation and then the crack angles and has cracked the rib itself. i bought this oud for 500$ from a friend and despite its lack of maker label, was actually a pretty good instrument compared to other cheap turkish ouds i have seen. it was originally bought from peter kyvelos' oud shop and came from an unknown maker in turkey. now, forget whatever i said about new york, unless its in detroit or chicago its out of my driving distance, and therefore i will send it anywhere to have it repaired. i'm not looking for a high quality "restoration" repair job on this, just someone to glue the ribs back into place. perhaps i should try it myself...how much would this cost me, and is it worthless and i could buy a new oud for less money thank you for your responses. there are also some other minor cracks but as they dont affect the instrument very much i dont care about them. i am an amateur oudist and not looking for super high quality...

I can't answer your question but you stand a much better chance of useful advice from the pro and semi-pro luthiers here if you post some detailed pictures.

Hi Hartun,

Sorry to hear about the accident. I can fix your oud. I live in NY.. please e-mail me and I can discuss the repair with you. I'll need some photographs of course. Thanks.
