Cutting a rosette by hand

This is me carving a rosette from wood by hand. The wood is 2.6 5x ply from maple. Very high quality ply.

Nice work John - you make it look easy!

How long did it take to cut the entire rosette (not in one sitting I imagine)?
Where is your source of 5 ply maple - or did you make it from maple veneer laminated?

Thanks John,

I remade a new video, which is a longer version.. maybe boring for some, or helpful for others. I replaced the link at the top with the longer version. Or you can get it from here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWFL4N5DwNQ

I've done enough of this to the point that I got faster. This took me at least two days of non-stop work. The pattern you see me cutting is the easier one

I didn't make this plywood, but I have before. Mine is inferior in comparison. I assume they have a nice press. The company that makes these is called Koskisen.. their website is http://www.koskisen.com and I believe they are out of Finland.
