setlist for iraqi music?

hey, i got a gig playing and singing (a little...i'm not a great singer) at a small wedding party, just me and a percussionist. the groom's mother is iraqi so they want mostly iraqi music. i know quite a lot but maybe someone here can recommend some songs?..

i was thinking to do mey7ana, yanba3t elri7an, ya7fir elbir songs like this the only problem most iraqi songs have the same 10/8 rhythm and it could be boring..of course we will mix in some other arabic music too, but recommendations for iraqi tunes are welcome.

How about Iraqi-Jewish songs?

For example:

“Yah Ribon ‘Alam”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPH5PhxkS1I

“Mah Nawu ‘Alei” (wedding song): http://www.piyut.org.il/tradition/english/35.html?currPerformance=2...

“El Eliyahu”: http://www.piyut.org.il/tradition/english/157.html?currPerformance=...

“Na’ah MiBeit Aviha” – Hebrew “pizmon” version of “Tala’a Min Beit Aviha”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5w0cDL2kz4 (sing it in Arabic AND Hebrew!) Lyrics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klOzrXOoY-Y

I don’t know how things work over there, but over here, I don’t stress out too much about it when the hosts demand songs from _______________. I choose and learn 2 or 3 of them and otherwise perform my usual mix. Generally, a typical guest doesn’t pay close enough attention to the band to notice if the melodies are Moroccan, Iraqi, Yemeni, etc.

Have fun and good luck!

All the best,
"Udi" John
