Turkish tunning
Hi fellas,
just experimenting with some tuning on the oud I built for my daughter. The scale length is 58.5 so I decided why not try to tune it up to turkish
tuning.
What you think? I think I like it better than it's arabic sound.

sounds just fine Samir, with 58.5 you can go Arabic or Turkish with the right strings. the oud you made appears to have a larger soundhole, or is that
just the camera angle?

That's a good sound. Nice Oud as well. The old Turkish EABEAD is my favourite tuning. Have you tried C#F#BEAD?

Good eye Matty,
It's about 13.5cm where as the typical diameter is 12.
I thought to do this to offset the lacking lower sound holes. I don't know if it worked probably in my head more than anything.
I am still making the rosette for it... But i have moved on to other projects. My kid is 15 months old I think we have time before she starts playing

well Samir the soundhole does look cool that size, and when she drops her risha or any little toys into the oud it will make shaking them out that
much easier!

A beautifull sounding oud Samir!
Have to say I loved it much better with the arabic tuning.
She is lucky to have it
The wood might be dead, but the oud is alive.

Merci Francis,
Probablement qu'elle me demandera de le peindre en rose :P
Thanks Luttgutt,
I think it sounds ok either way actually but the turkish strings I got by chance so I thought, why not
To be honest it is the first time in my life I play a oud in turkish tuning after more than 15 years of playing !
