first oud video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMYT65AnCPI
Hello, im very happy to be joining this knowledgable forum. I've been playing oud for about 15 hours so far, this is what has come from that. Things
im sure im not doing right: picking technique (still waiting on my risha to come in the mail), sitting posture, and of course i have no idea how to
properly play a maqam taqsim so i'm just noodling around. This is a cheap oud that fell in my lap, i plan on getting a proper instrument as soon as i
am able to afford one. thanks for listening, any advice or criticism welcome

Very nice Chris. The oud sounds good. Interesting playing; the Indian musical influence is obvious. Very sarod like playing.
Enjoy!

Thank you! Yes, the raga keeps coming out, until I get a firm grasp of the elusive maqam. I was toying with raga Bhairavi at some parts- which is the
minor scale with both flat and natural second. Its a cheap oud, meant to hang on the walls of tourists im told, but it will do until i can afford a
proper instrument. Thanks for listening, sorry about the video orientation- recording on my phone until I can find my lost instrument cable :/

Thank you! I've been playing guitar for about 20 years, and sitar for 12 so it's not my first time around, but the fretless aspect is a totally new
challenge. I've been listening to maqam based music for years too so its just applying what i know to a new setting. Glad im not blaspheming it!

Dude, great job. This cheap Oud actually sounds pretty decent. What kind of microphone are you using?
