Nihavend Saz Semai
I enjoy getting to see member videos here, so I figured I'd share one I just posted. As I wrote in the comments, it's half of a Nihavend Saz Semai by
Serif Muhuttin Targan. I've been playing the oud now for nearly 1.5 years, and Mavrothi has had me working on this piece on and off since January
(about since I started taking lessons with him). It took me a while, filming it yesterday, to get through the first half without major mistakes, and
I couldn't seem to get through the entire composition without at least messing up in the second half...thus posting only half. Here's the link:

I love most compositions I've seen by Targan. For me, listening to them is like listening to a story. This particular piece reminds me of walking
into the woods where something mysterious may be lurking. Hopefully I can record a better version of the entire piece in the not too distant
future...

Sounds good, David! One observation . . . you seem to be moving the joint/tip of your thumb when you pick. I would encourage you to keep the thumb
should be straight.

Thanks Brian! I'll try to pay more attention to that, and fix it. Much appreciated!
You know, the knuckle of my right index finger has been hurting on an off. I thought it was due to using a mouse/work. But looking at that video, I
bet I'm putting too much pressure on my index finger and stressing the joint. I do TRY to hold my pick lightly, but it sure looks like I'm not.
Mavrothi has told me the same, but it's not always easy to see via video. Thanks again.
