what is a double soundboard?
I've been seeing a lot of messages about Faruk Turunz's "double soundboard" uds, and a few demo videos. But nothing that tells me what a double
soundboard actually is, or why it would make a difference to anything.
Explain, somebody? With diagrams?

You can look for double soundboard guitar, you'll get a complete explanation.
Basically, a thin layer of Nomex( honeycomb material) is glued inside two very thin layers of wood.
The overall thickness is supposed to be thinner, more resonant, and stronger than the usual thickness.
I've been owning two double soundboard oud since one year and a half, and for now i see only advantages, it's more stable to humidity variations, it's
very sensitive, and you still feel having a wood instrument which gets better and better.
When you travel a lot, you're sure that in any condition, you'll get a very good sounding oud.
I remember a guitar luthier saying that regardless of the time consuming/material cost, he would make all his instruments as double soundboard.
