The doodad is for the strap. The other end attaches to the pegbox

I thought it might be for attaching a small microphone. Either way I would think it would affect the sound of the oud.

Hi guys, a close friend of mine just purchased this oud. Can anyone confirm if the Ottoman has a date written in the label? Freya suggested 1910? The Armenian just has the name Arshag Keoseyan.
