Lenzner strings
Hello everybody,
Hope someone could give me information on Lenzner strings tension used for CC cc arabic tuning on both 58.5 and 60 course.
I tried to find any info in Lenzner site, Brian's page and Wagners page but couldn't.
I have noticed that Lenzner strings thickness is more or less same like Daniel Mari. Do they also have sort of similar tension?
Many thanks,
Omar

Hello
Lenzner is a fine strings... they could work nicely on 60 cm Oud... some how I find the top nylon C and G quite heavy ...
not expensive strings but they are worth it..
best wishes,
Adel

Interesting, I hadn't heard of them. I sent them an inquiry, perhaps their historical strings are worth a look as well. We will see, perhaps I can
start carrying them.

Hi Brian....by default Abu Alaa for example uses Lenzner on both 60 and 58.5 ouds.
There gauge is similar to Daniel Mari....alsomeant for CC cc Arabic tuning, but Lenzner are higher in tension.
I tried it today on Abu Alaa's oud.......they are nice and crisp

Hello Omar,
With Lenzner strings if you use them on a 60 cm oud ... you should try to tune your oud down to 415 not 440 as they are quite heavy strings...but they
could work nicely on your Oud
They are cheaper than the great Savarez and Pyramid Lute string ... also they are quite warm...
Daniel Mari strings, I have never used them however I have seen them on some of my students Ouds...
Best wishes,
Adel

Hi Adel,
I tried the Lenzner yesterday on one of the ouds as I told you......and guess what...........you are absolutely right.
They are abit heavy........close to the Pyramid orange lable............they resonate nicely and the give crisp feeling.............but I need a lower
tension for my playing style.
I still find Daniel Marie better in payability, however the Lenzner could give slightly better tonality.

I have been in communication with Lenzner, they are very helpful and friendly. I am going to get some samples from them soon. They also produce
individual "lute" strings and are possibly willing to work with me on the gauges in the oud sets. I will keep you posted.
