very nice old oud, Mayada el Hanaoui
just found this old video of singer Mayada el Hinaoui singing oum koulthoum along with a oud player.
that oud is so nice. I wonder if some of the oud connoisseurs will recognize the oud maker.

I have seen the same kind of protector at the bottom before.
my guess is gamil georges but I could be wrong.

Very nice music too. The oud seems to be decorated at the end of the fingerboard with the letters ASH. Could that be a clue to the identity of the
maker or the player? Mayada el Hinaoui 's singing is so relaxed and tuneful and nuanced. She also seems to be dressed with the intention of
impersonating a salad. This must have been the 1970s!

I am sorry to say that this oud is not of Michel Khawwam, but of Jameel Kandalaft, I have personally met the two luthiers, who plays the oud is Asaad
Al Shater (ASH) that I have known personally also.

I totally agree, Dr.
Khawwam's have less ornaments on the top.
Al Shater is very shater (skilled) He become famous accompanying the legendary
Syrian tenor Sabah Fakhri
Great oud and player
Singer ? Well, let's just leave her and her style(s) aside ...

Thanks Faladel and Alfaraby for the correction... I have checked my photos of Qandalft oud and yes its one of his ouds...
I love the sound of Al Shater Oud,in fact I have asked an oud player from Aleppo what kind of oud he uses , his answer was he used mainly Khawwam
Oud...
the question is why these makers are not known? and why we do not see their Ouds? compared to the Nahat Ouds?
Best wishes,
Adel

Dear Adel :
Michel Khawwam was a luthier who worked only for professionals, I call him: the luthier of the bourgeoisie oud-player, he made their ouds for
professionals, concert artists and well known people, their ouds were of the best quality as abdo Nahhat, was well known and highly prized among
professionals, in addition, their ouds were not cheap compared to others , for me is one of the best Luthiers in history.
