Can anyone identify the maker of this Oud?
Greetings,
I am new to the forum but I have had an Oud for around 10 years and took a few lessons but failed to stick with it, but am now making a second attempt
at learning. I am originally a classical guitar player. My brother purchased this oud for me in Iraq and I have always wondered who made it. I
thought maybe someone here may know or be able to provide some information about its maker. It does not seem to be of a high quality and it is very
difficult to keep in tune, but it also does not seem to be factory made. What I know (or think I know) at this point is that it was made in Baghdad,
Iraq and the rose over the sound hole says the maker's name on top and Baghdad Iraq on the bottom. Other than that I know almost nothing. It appears
that 1999 or 1998 is written in pen on the inside label, maybe the year it was constructed? Any feedback or help identifying or learning anything
about this Oud's origin would be greatly appreciated.
Excited to be a part of this forum! I have a new Oud arriving soon that will be a better beginner Oud for me, and I am really excited to start
studying again!
Thanks for having me
