Is there a standard Turkish Oud building technique?

Are Turkish Ouds built using an accepted standard design? Is there a lot of variation?

Likewise, do all Turkish Oud builders use that interlocking neck mechanism (can't remember the term) as opposed to the dowel method?

If traditional Turkish Ouds are built to certain standard design, does anyone have a design schematic? I'm curious.

I have been pestering Godin Guitars about how they developed the MultiOud and discovered that the MultiOud was built when a Turkish Oud player living in Texas approached Godin and requested them to build an Oud. He supplied them with old Turkish Oud design blueprints to which they adapted their Multiac design to. I had always thought it was designed after Turkish Oud, and now my idea has been confirmed. It is indeed perfect for Turkish sound in my opinion. What would happen if they get a hold of Arabic design?
