So the founder of Taylor guitars made an important decision that will effect most luthiers, and instruments made around the world. From this point on
we will be seeing a lot of ebony with streaks in it. Now for me, this is not a problem. Ebony that has blonde and brown streaks in it has been
considered to be a lesser grade ebony. I think ebony with streaks in it is particularly attractive. I actually prefer it! If one has a problem with
the streaks, dye and or oil can be used to make a jet black appearance. The shortage of ebony has me thinking of considering other materials such as
vulcanized fibre which other makers have used in a good way.
