My New OUD...and some problems with it...

OUD Specs: Syrian OUD made by MSKHLIFEH
Problems needing to be addressed:
*Bowl has slight seperation between one set of ribs
* Soundboard seems to be seperating slightly in 2 spots(i can see light through from inside if i look) where the vaneers connect.
* There is a surface crack, small, under the bridge near bottom. Humidification seems to have been poorly maintained on this OUD, but it could also perhaps have been wood under treated and left with too much moisture when built.
*Strings need updating. This is strictly maintenance as well.

Plans:
*I have ordered new pyramid orange strings. I hope i got the right ones.
** I bought some hide glue from Lee Valley the other day. Once i figure out what i am doing more, I am planning on trying to fix the cracks somehow. I will read other threads when ready to try this.

I will upload pics once i figure out how so others can see what i am up against.
{Pictures to follow shortly}

Hi Matt. Welcome to the forum!! Couldn't help but notice you're from Hamilton; fellow Hamiltonian here :applause::applause:.

Your Oud looks a lot like the first one I owned. I wouldn't really call it a Oud though, the thing barely stayed in tune and sounded really bad. I would suggest trying to get your hands on a semi-professional oud. There are some out there that are not too expensive. You will really feel the difference. Once I got a decently built oud I couldn't understand how I was every playing on my first oud.

Btw, I was just curious did you buy your Oud in Hamilton?
