Beirut "To-Do" List Suggestions?
Greeting Fellow Udis,
A friend of mine will soon be visiting Beirut, Lebanon for the 1st time (for a friend's wedding) for about a week. Are there any experiences not to
be missed? Traditional music concerts? Museums? Restaurants? Shopping? My friend is quite cultured, but is not a musician, and doesn't speak
Arabic.
Shukran in for any ideas, suggestions or leads.
Best,
"Udi" John

Quick recommendations:
Metro Al Madina - Cabaret Pub at Hamra
https://www.facebook.com/MetroAlMadina/
They have very good shows and events.
Not to be missed “Hishik Bishik Show”, an homage to the Egyptian old cabaret, a 4 years old show still going strong, no need to understand Arabic
to enjoy it.
The Sursok Museum of modern Art is a nice place to visit
https://www.facebook.com/sursockmuseum/
Histoire Geo brocante is a nice place where your friend can get you a gift
https://www.facebook.com/groups/histoiregeooutlet/
Restaurants: Em Sherif - Lebanese

Liza - Lebanese (great brunch on Sundays)
https://www.zomato.com/beirut/liza-ashrafieh
Mayass and/or Mayrig (delicious Armenian)
But in general in Lebanon poplar eateries can be excellent
And for general cultural infos he can check what’s going on on:

For night life he can just walk the Gemmaizeh/Mar Mkhayel area in Beirut Achrafieh and choose what he likes.

There is Afif Merhej and his band playing at the bluenote café. I think he is playing this Saturday and every other Saturdays.

Thanks for the suggestion, Samir. Unfortunately, my friend has already returned from his trip. He really enjoyed Beirut, especially the food.
