Usûller for the uninitiated?
Hi everyone,
I've been scouring the internet to find a resource with information on usûller. My partner plays frame drum and would like to accompany me on some of
the pieces I play.
We've found basic information regarding the rhythms of the more common usûller in some of my music books and on websites such as http://oudipedia.info/usuller.html. These sources, however, lack information such as which beats are un/stressed, which usûller are associated
with which genres, etc.
Does anybody know of any resources (electronic or otherwise) that contain this information? We're able to read most European languages.
Thanks in advance for pointing us in the right direction!

I don't have any English resources, but for usul you kind of don't need much language anyway. It is mostly self-explanatory.

For future readers, I just wanted to share a book that I recently found. It's called "The Usul in Turkish Music" by Yarkin Fahrettin.
It's written in English, Greek and Turkish and explains most common usuls and their main velvele. In addition, it also explains the basic rhythmic
theory, the dum-tek system of notation (and dynamics), how the Turkish two-line notation system works, which usuls are associated with which genres,
and even has a section on the different percussion instruments used in Ottoman music. I wouldn't say it's encyclopedic in it's presentation, but it
definitely contains enough information to help readers understand how usuls work.
