Cheap Flatback Oud
As Salam...
Hi I'm from Malaysia... I find it very difficult to come by music store that sells oud here in Malaysia while if there's any the price would be
unaffordable to many. So the oud now are slowly dying as getting by people to be interested to learn become scarce.
So here goes my first try to build a flatback oud without any wood working experience neither do the necessary tools to start with. Material used :
1. Sides - 3mm Bendy plywood ( flexible plywood )
2. Top / Bottom - 3mm marine grade plywood
3. Neck - Resak - 2 X 10mm laminate ( tropical hardwood )
4. Bridge - Resak
5. neck/butt - cedar like local softwood
6. 3 pcs piezo transducer
aesthetic aside this build is very crude and don't think will ever be attractive to any... Appreciate your comment

Thank You... I 'm sorry I couldn't get any sound sample recorded as yet... But I can say that it has the oud sound although build mostly with guitar
style build. I've ordered a new mic to get a clearer sound.
Meanwhile I'm now on my second oud build...
